Do you know who I am?
I arrive like a thief in the night.
I’m the reason death and disease exist,
I’m the one that causes fright.
I can look you in the face, or wait behind your back.
But just know that I’ll grab hold of you soon.
I don’t take action at any particular time of day,
I’ll come evening, morning, or noon.

I can cause your skin to develop abnormalities
Or I can cause you internal pain.
I’m the reason you lost your arm yesterday,
And why last night, your child was slain.

You can’t avoid me, I’m in your government,
Or just waiting outside your house.
I can be the homeless man in rags on the side of the road,
Or be the lawyeress in high-heels, a skirt, and a blouse.
Oh, and sometimes you can smell me,
like a scented oil fan.
And other times, I can be a cleaning solution
Also known as death in a can.

But no worries, I’m sure you can guess my identity.
It’s not like I’m a snooper or a spy.
I’ve told you all there is to know about me.
So hence, just keep a watchful eye.
